Withings Pulse O2 Fitness Tracker Review

– Design

This best fitness tracker with heart rate and oxygen monitor is exactly the same as the Pulse, and can be used with the adjustable strap or with a clip to attach it to the belt or clothing or simply loose in a bag. It is not waterproof.

There are three straps to choose from with a metal bracket where the monitor fits. It is not the most elegant activity tracker on the market, or at least not as stylish as the Fitbit Flex bracelet. The strap designs are based on traditional watch straps. There are options in matte black and blue rubber.

The monitor is made in matte black with a single navigation button, a micro USB charging port and an optoelectronic sensor on the back. The OLED touch screen is 128 x 32px and suffers from some visibility problems in bright environments.

– Functionalities

It has the same functionalities as the original Pulse. It has a 3-axis accelerometer that provides us with the data of the pedometer or the distance traveled. We are also going to find an altimeter that will inform us of changes in the elevation of the terrain or a heart rate sensor.

We are going to find five screens that will offer us different information: time, step counter, altitude, distance traveled, calories burned, in addition to the screen to activate sleep and heart rate monitoring measures. We can see the data of the last 14 days on the device.

The latest addition to the Pulse O2 is the ability to measure blood oxygen levels. The importance of maintaining control over oxygen levels in the blood is to be able to maintain enough oxygen for it to reach the muscles and for them to function properly.

All these data can be consulted in the Withings Health Mate app, available for iOS and Android. We are only going to have to link the bracelet thanks to bluetooth 4.0 with our smartphone. On the main screen, we can quickly see the heart rate, activity and sleep data, which can be reordered according to your preferences. In the menu you can see the exercise table, the profile, my devices, the help center, the access to the store and the settings. It is a very easy to use application and sleep and activity data are easy to consult. The heart rate information is a bit more complicated to digest, as it is represented by small dots on a graph and when selected they will give you a reading of your heart rate along with a recommendation.

Withings Pulse O2 - Monitor de actividad APP

– Performance

The Pulse O2 offers us good reliability when it comes to counting the steps taken, the distance, the time or the calories burned, at the same level as other activity wristbands such as the Jawbone Up24 or the Garmin Vivofit. It also does a good job of controlling our sleep hours, but the information displayed is less useful than that offered by other applications of other activity monitors.

Regarding the control of the heart rate or the oxygen level, it does a better job when we are standing than when we are in full exercise.

The battery life is exceptional, reaching up to two weeks without having to charge it.

Is Withings Pulse O2 Fitness Tracker Worth A Buy?

The Withings Pulse O2 is one of the best activity monitors you will find right now. It takes good data and offers it conveniently in the app. The application is easy to use and the battery life is spectacular.

The design is not the most attractive in the world, but it offers you several options to carry it with you. It is also not waterproof and the screen suffers with a lot of brightness.

Pros
  • Very good battery life
  • With many features and functionalities
  • Shows reliable data
Cons
  • The screen looks somewhat wrong with a lot of brightness
  • the design is not spectacular
