Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers Review 2022

It is no secret. At Gouforit we like the speakers of this brand. We have already tested the Edifier S360DB and EDIFIER S1000DB. And now it’s the turn of The Edifier R1700BT, a slightly lower range than the previous ones, but which also offers a good sound and workmanship. Don’t miss this Edifier R1700BT speakers review if you are thinking of buying them.

What is the main attraction of this model compared to the others? Basically that they are a much cheaper pair of speakers, and they still have excellent sound (very pleasant to listen to) and good workmanship.

They are compact speakers with Bluetooth 4.0 to connect them to your smartphone and with a fairly small size, so in addition to being able to put them on your shelf, it is possible that they will also fit on your work desk.

Edifier R1700BT vs S360DB vs S1000DB

In terms of size they are quite similar to the S360DB, but the big difference compared to these is that the R1700BT do not have a subwoofer. They are half as expensive. The R1700BTs are recommended for use for computers, while the others are perfect for use at home as main speakers (they are 150W vs. 66W).

Compared to the EDIFIER S1000DB they are much smaller. The sound power of the S1000DB is much higher (120 W vs. 66 W). It is not comparable. The use is different. Design and build has a premium point above the S1000DBs. Its price is also higher.

In the photos you can see a few images of these speakers next to each other, where you can clearly see their dimensions and type of connections.

They come very well packaged. There is no need to worry about that. Everything perfect, and with a few interesting extras, like the remote control and some really long connection cables.

You can start working immediately after taking them out of the box, either using the RCA cables or directly via bluetooth by connecting them to your smartphone or computer. Everything is well indicated both in the box and in the instructions:

In the left speaker we are only going to see the connection to connect it to the other speaker. On the right we have the small control panel on the side that serves to customize the sound (and an LED that changes color depending on the type of connection: blue or green), and on the back the RCA connection (PC IN and AUX In) together with the power button.

Both speakers have 4 round range legs that will get them to stay in place without much trouble. Both have a protective screen that can be easily removed.

They have a 19mm tweeter, a 4 inch driver and a puerto ‘Bass Reflex’ facing front.

The best bluetooth bookshelf speakers are manufactured with a 10 degree upward tilt, which serves to ensure that the sound is directed directly at the listener.

These Bluetooth speakers have built-in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Dynamic Range Control (DRC) to avoid distortion.

They have 3 rotary controls to modify treble, bass and volume. They are located on the side of the right speaker.

The workmanship is good (in wood), as always in this brand. It just detracts a little from the quality of the wireless controller.

Its dimensions are small, so you can consider placing them on your work desk next to your computer, but it can also be placed on a shelf.

Edifier R1700BT Sound

As always, we have tested them with our Spotify list “Music To test Headphones” which works perfectly for speakers as well. Tracks like Queen’s Bohemin Rhapsody or Motley Crue’s Kickstart My Heart triumph on these speakers. If you like strong bass, these speakers do not disappoint, although at some point they may sound excessive and mask other frequencies. The guitars sound spectacular. Bass is crisp, but can’t be compared to a 2.1 speaker setup.

They are perfect to enjoy the most powerful voices such as Florence and The Machine on the Hunger theme. The sound shines through at all times and is very expressive and full of detail. It is true that the treble suffers a bit, but it is not something that you can not back down when buying this model. Even if you are looking for the best budget bookshelf bluetooth speakers, consider buying these ones.

Bottom Line: Are The Edifier R1700BT Speakers Worth Buying?

The truth is that in this price range they are a great buy. They can be found for around $159.99. They are small, they fit anywhere, the bluetooth connectivity is not interrupted at any time, and they offer a quite successful sound (except if we take into account that sometimes the bass can mask other frequencies).

Its build quality is very good, and we are only saddened that the included wireless controller is not of the same quality as the speakers themselves (this is something they have fixed in the S360DBs).

If you need some good speakers that do not kill your savings, the Edifier R1700BT are a good option. Perfect for connecting to your computer and enjoying spectacular sound.

They are available in black and brown. The price is the same. You will not regret buying them. Hope you find this Edifier R1700BT speakers review helpful.
