Design and Features

Measuring 10 x 9 x 9.4 cm and weighing 1,200 grams, it is slightly larger than the original Jambox but still maintains its curious rough and perforated metallic design with somewhat ‘vintage’ buttons on the back. top, while the bottom has small rubber feet to help isolate vibrations and help reduce movement caused by the bass. It is available in different colors: red, black, graphite and white.

Connectivity

The Big Jambox is a fairly easy speaker to connect to any device that has bluetooth and that is in an approximate range of 10-15 meters. On one side we will find a button to link any compatible tablet or smartphone via bluetooth, so the link is made even easier than in previous models. The Big Jambox can remember up to 8 devices in memory, and link two at the same time although the sound will only come from one of them. Right next to it we will also find the microUSB connector to connect to the computer.

With the buttons at the top we can control the volume, pause and start the music and change the song. If we press the button with the «J» a voice will tell us how much battery we have left.

Microphone

One of the great additions to this speaker has been the improvement in the microphone with which we can easily receive calls from our mobile. The quality has improved substantially with a 360º microphone with which our voice will be heard without problems even when making conference calls in business environments.

Battery

The Big Jambox uses a lithium ion battery that we can charge without problems by connecting it to the network for approximately 2-3 hours, giving us an autonomy of about 15 hours.

Sound Quality

The Big Jambox sounds much better than the original Jambox and above all much louder and with impressive bass.

It offers a sound with very good detail, a fairly strong bass and has almost no distortion at high volumes. Of course, they sound somewhat less “warm” than the Bose SoundLink Wireless.

They feature Jawbone’s LiveAudio technology that provides more depth, detail and realism to the sound. Despite being relatively small, this speaker is capable of delivering powerful enough sound to fill any room.

Final Verdict

The Big Jambox is one of those speakers that you fall in love with (despite its somewhat high price) instantly as soon as you see them and put them into operation. Perhaps they are a bit large to be considered literally “portable” but the truth is that the sound quality they provide compensates for that “extra” in size that we are going to find. In addition, they offer us the possibility of answering calls, something that other speakers in the range do not.
